Tax Increment Financing

Funding the Future of Tulsa

Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is a funding tool used to encourage and leverage private and public investment in eligible areas of Tulsa. TIF is meant to spur private development through investment of public dollars in a variety of ways. These may include public infrastructure, placemaking assets or development financing.

What is a TIF?

“TIF” is an acronym for a tax increment finance district. These are specially designated geographic areas where the new taxes generated by private investment are reinvested into that area for a specified period of time or until an established increment cap is reached.

Funds can be generated over a period of up to 25 years by increases in the taxable value of property and/or increases in the sales tax generated by business activities within a designated district. TAEO currently manages TIF Districts across the city.
